Role Summary
The Secondary School Principal is responsible for leading the academic, operational, and pastoral management of the Secondary School section. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, maintaining academic standards aligned with CAIE, supporting staff development, managing student discipline, and ensuring the smooth daily operation of the Secondary School. The principal works closely with the Deputy Director, leadership team, teachers, students, and parents to drive continuous school improvement and student success.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall management and daily operation of the Secondary School section
- Ensure implementation of school policies, procedures, and academic standards aligned with CAIE
- Develop, manage, and monitor school timetables, schedules, and staff deployment
- Lead curriculum planning, implementation, and review across all Secondary levels
- Monitor teaching and learning through lesson plan reviews and classroom observations
- Ensure consistency and quality in assessment, grading, and academic reporting systems
- Analyse student performance data and support academic interventions where needed
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate Secondary School teaching and support staff
- Conduct staff appraisals, classroom observations, and provide professional development support
- Work with HR on recruitment, selection, and onboarding of staff
- Manage student discipline systems, including serious behavioural cases and follow-up documentation
- Support student wellbeing, academic progress, and school engagement
- Communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioural, and school-related matters
- Lead Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) and handle escalated parent concerns
- Ensure effective implementation of school-wide initiatives and improvement plans
- Review and evaluate learning materials and textbooks, and propose improvements where necessary
- Support accreditation, compliance, and quality assurance processes
- Promote a positive school culture focused on academic excellence and professionalism
- Prepare regular reports for the Deputy Director
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- Minimum 5–8 years of teaching education experience, with leadership experience in secondary education preferred
- Strong knowledge of CAIE curriculum and assessment systems
- Proven experience in school leadership, staff management, and curriculum coordination
- Strong understanding of student development, behaviour management, and academic systems
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead teams, manage changes, and drive school improvement
